Cardiff City are hopeful of signing Nathan Trott permanently following the goalkeeper’s promotion-winning season on loan from Copenhagen.
Trott joined last summer and has played 41 League One games for the Bluebirds as they have secured an instant return to the Championship.
The 27-year-old has impressed with his shot-stopping as well as his ability on the ball, helping head coach Brian Barry-Murphy implement an expansive new playing style this term.
Trott’s performances earned him a nomination for Cardiff’s player of the season.
The Bluebirds have held positive talks with the former England youth international as they aim to turn his season-long loan into a permanent move as part of their preparations for life back in the second tier.
The Welsh club sealed automatic promotion from League One with three games to spare and finish their League One campaign at Mansfield Town on Saturday (15:00 BST).
