The consultancy says the evidence-based service analyses universities’ publication and funding profiles to identify areas of research complementarity, rather than relying on broad subject-level matches.
Collaborizer also identifies researchers working in relevant areas and connects potential partnership themes with funding instruments and sponsors. CCG says this produces a ranked portfolio of potential opportunities, helping institutions focus resources on partnerships with the strongest evidence of potential.

“The challenge isn’t finding more partners – it’s knowing which partnerships are genuinely worth investing in,” said CCG chairman Charles Cormack.
“The biggest change Collaborizer will make to how universities approach international partnership development – particularly as institutions face tighter resources – is that universities can move from asking ‘who do we know?’ to asking ‘where is the evidence that a partnership could work?’,” continued Cormack.
“At a time when international teams are under pressure to do more with less, Collaborizer helps them identify and prioritise the opportunities most worth investing their time in. It doesn’t replace institutional judgement or relationships – it gives universities a stronger evidence base on which to apply them.”
According to CCG, the service has already been used to develop more actionable research agendas from existing agreements, identify previously overlooked research themes, strengthen TNE relationships through research collaboration and assess partnership opportunities across national university systems.
Anne Morgan, director of international at Cardiff University, commented: “We’ve started using CCG’s Collaborizer and its been a valuable tool that will help us embed research into our global TNE ambition. The level of detail it generates is hugely useful and will save us significant time in scoping, analysing, planning and measuring partnerships, including their appropriateness, ambition and performance.”
CCG said Collaborizer forms part of its wider work supporting universities with international partnerships and research funding.
